Vegetable, fruit and garden waste and paper
Vegetable, fruit and garden waste, residual waste and paper are also collected separately in the suburbs of Leiden. Paper is collected once every 4 weeks.
Rules for supplying your waste for collection:
When you follow the waste collection rules, our employees can empty your container without any problems. Also your street stays clean, there is less nuisance and you prevent a possible fine.
- Place all your garbage in the container. Waste placed outside the container will not be taken.
- Keep the lid of the container closed to prevent cats or seagulls from getting into the container.
- The container should not weigh more than 60 kilograms. The waste collection truck is not able to lift that.
- Place your container on the side of the road before 7.00 a.m. on the day of retrieval. Keep the noise down as much as possible.
- Park your car in such a way that the garbage truck has proper access to the containers.
- The container should be placed on the right side of the road, with the front facing the road. The front is where the garbage truck lifts the container.
- Place the containers in a straight line next to each other on the side of the road or green line.
- Retrieve your empty container at your earliest convenience, before 21.00 p.m. at the latest.

Waste containers are municipal property. Has your container been damaged or gone missing? Request a new one.
