Municipal recycling facility

As a resident of Leiden, you can hand in bulky waste at the municipal recycling facility. Make an appointment first if you come by car. This can often be done quickly. Pedestrians and cyclists can stop by without an appointment.

Types of appointments

Standard appointment

Choose the 15 minute appointment if you only a few pieces of waste. You will have around 15 minutes time to dispose of your waste at the recycling centre.

Standard appointment (15 minutes)

Extensive appointment

Choose this option if you come by car with trailer or van to dispose of many different materials.

Extensive appointment (30 minutes)

Conditions

  • Bring valid proof of identity (passport, ID card or drivers license).
  • You can dispose a maximum amount of 2.000 kilograms of waste per year.
  • Use of the Municipal recycling facility is for residents only. Waste generated by businesses is to be retrieved by a private waste retrieval company.

    Please sort your waste before you dispose of it. This makes it a lot easier for yourself and others at the Municipal recycling facility.

    • mattresses
    • old paper
    • carpet and floor covering
    • textile

    • Asbestos. You can dispose of this free of charge at Van Diemen in Leiden by appointment.
    • Reusable items and (working or broken) electrical appliances. Go to thrift store Het Warenhuis for this.
    • Sand, garden soil and soil. You have to to hire a private company for this.
