(31-03) Emergency shelter open at Schipholweg 68

The first emergency shelter, which has been set up in the building at Schipholweg 68, has now opened. On Tuesday 29 March, the first group of Ukrainian refugees – mainly women and children – arrived at the shelter.

The building on Schipholweg can accommodate around 100 people. The shelter has sleeping quarters and several communal areas, including a play area for the children. The second shelter, which will be situated in the office building (D building) of the Alrijne Hospital on Houtlaan, will be ready in a few weeks' time. This location will soon be able to accommodate around 200 people. The refugees staying at the shelters are being supported by the Dutch Council for Refugees (VluchtelingenWerk), welfare organisations and volunteers.
